Objectives:
At the end of the lessons, the students will be able to: 1. identify the safety measures in the operations of the computer systems 2. enumerate the computer laboratory policies and procedures 3. understand the workplace standard operating procedures Subject Matter: OBSERVE THE SAFETY MEASURES IN THE OPERATIONS OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEMS COMPUTER LABORATORY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES 1. The laboratory is open between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. The non-ICT teachers may request for special schedule two days before their classes in order to be accommodated in the laboratory. Maximize your regular PC Operation schedules. 2. All computer users must sign in the logbook provided at the laboratory. This information is used to track laboratory usage and determine when additional equipment is needed. 3. Wear your school Identification Card (ID) at all times when using the computer equipment. 4. Most students are in the laboratory to work. Refrain from noise and disruptive behavior. 5. Put your things/bags in your locker/cabinet or designated place. 6. Do not take foods and beverages inside the laboratory - spillages on computer equipment can be disastrous. Treat the equipment as your own. 7. Always scan your diskettes/flash drive before opening them. Report any strange messages on the computer. These messages may indicate virus infection. 8. Always save your work and make a backup of your work. 9. Do not install any software on the computers without permission. It will be deleted immediately and without notification. 10. Do not change any of the software settings used on the computers. These include things such as start-up files, terminal settings, network configurations. 11. Do not attempt to add, disconnect, attach, borrow and/or remove any hardware components to/from the computers. 12. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness. Return the chairs to their proper places before leaving the laboratory. 13. Logout when you leave the laboratory. 14. Lab staff may instruct anyone violating the rules to leave the laboratory. WORKPLACE STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES 1. Use the computers for academic purposes only. Use only the computer assigned to you. 2. All equipment must be used in a manner consistent with the school policies and copyright laws. Misuse of either may result to disciplinary action and possible fines. 3. Do not interchange the hardware components of your computer with other’s computer. 4. Check and test the computer units in the laboratory. List down the materials that are functional and non-functional 5. Maintain the materials/equipment/tools in the computer laboratory. Help maintain the computer units and their accessories. Report the problems that you may encounter when using your computer. Replace faulty computer parts. 6. Follow computer laboratory rules. (Learn to follow set of computer laboratory rules before, during and after using your computer to ensure its maintenance). 7. Always refer to the rubrics when assessing your output Activity: A. The students will be grouped with 5 members in each group. Assign them to a particular PC. Instructions: Observe and list down the safety measures when performing the following computer system operations: a. Boot the assigned PC. b. Launch to MS Excel application software. c. Create file Journal 1, 2 and 3. d. Close the MS Excel. e. Folow step b. f. Open the computer files Journal 1,2 and 3. g. Copy the files to a compact disc. h. Close the application software. i. Shut down the computer system. B. Let a representative in each group share their outputs in front of the class. Evaluation: Let the students encode the Computer Laboratory Policies and Procedures in the MS Word Application Software. Edit and format the output properly. Instructions: a. Use 8x11 bond paper size. b. Set the page to portrait orientation. c. Use12 font size of the Cooper Black font d. Insert appropriate border and graphics. Assignment: Study your lessons for a long quiz from the very beginning. |
